Comicstaan is an Indian stand-up comedy show from the production house of Only Much Louder and is directed by Khuzema Haveliwala. The series was released through the Amazon Prime Video network, with it premiering on 13th July 2018, it was the most-watched show on the network even after three more episodes were launched post-premiere. The show puts in front of the audience some of the few biggest names in entertainment history to find the next big sensation in India.

A total of ten contestants were chose to be on the run for the title but it wasn’t done on the spot rather by carefully scrutinizing their videos beforehand. The contestants had to go through a seven-part screening procedure which tested their aptitude in every genre. The genres the participants had to prove themselves on were anecdotal, topical, observational, improv, sketch, comedy of terrors, and alternative comedy. They were given one week as the time to think and structure new material before presenting it in front of the judges and the audience. Only for the rounds four and five, the contestants were aired in to groups as it deemed necessary. The final was held at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai and the winner was awarded with a cash prize of 10,00,000.

The show featured Kaneez Surka, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian, Tanmay Bhat, SapanVerma and Naveen Richard as the judges who evaluate the participants. Abish Mathew and Sumukhi Suresh were the hosts of the show. The contestants of the first season of Comicstaan were Nishant Suri from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Shankar Chugani from Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, Rahul Dua from Ludhiana, Punjab, Rueben Kaduskar from Mumbai, Maharashtra, ShashwatMaheshwari from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Saurav Mehta from Kolkata, West Bengal, Arnav Rao from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Aishwarya Mohanraj from Mumbai, Maharashtra, Prashashti Singh from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh and Sejal Bhat from Bangalore, Karnataka.
