Dil Bechara

This Fox Star India production is a coming-of-age romantic drama film which is based on the novel written by John Green in 2012 by the name The Fault in Our Stars. The shooting for the movie first commenced in 2018 on 9th July and was scheduled to be released several times but was postponed at the last minute. It was finally released on 24th July 2020, across the Hotstar network. One of the leading characters, Sushant Singh Rajput (as Immanuel) faced his demise in June and due to that, the movie was streamed for free to even non-subscribers.

The story revolves around the main protagonists Kizie and Immanuel, where they fight their battles inside their relationships and even in life as Kizie suffers from osteosarcoma and is in remission while Immanuel is a patient of terminal cancer. The movie follows their lives as Kizie’scancer gets worse and she is admitted to the hospital and Immanuel slowly succumbs to death.

The leading performances in the film are done by Sushant Singh Rajput playing the role of Immanuel Rajkumar Junior, also known as Manny, Sanjana Sanghi in the role of KizieBasu, Sahil Vaid in the role of Jagdish “JP” Pandey, SaswataChatterjee playing the role of Kizie’s father and Swastika Mukherjee playing the role of Kizie’s mother. Other notable appearances include Subbalakshmi playing the role ofManny’s grandmother, Sunit Tandon in the role of Dr. Jha, Michael Muttu playing the role of Manny’s father, Rajie Vijay Sarathe in the role of Manny’s mother, Franaita Jijina playing the role of Foizey and Suresh Arora appearing as P. Singh.

The movie was released to mostly positive reviews with IMDb rating the film a whopping 9.5 out of 10 on their website.
